Colonel Ed Lee Caylor, Retired, age 92, passed away Sunday morning at the Baptist Regional Hospital in Corbin
He is survived by his daughter, Pattie Secada and granddaughter, Debra Secada
The funeral service will be 1 PM Wednesday, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Elk Spring Cemetery
Monticello Lodge 431 F&AM will conduct funeral rites Tuesday evening at 7PM at the Funeral Home. All masons are invited to meet at 6PM at the Lodge Hall for preparation.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 Tuesday and Wednesday until service time.

Col. Ed Lee Caylor
COL. ED LEE CAYLOR April 22,1917-Nov. 22,2009 Col. Ed Lee Caylor, U.S. Army (Ret.), age 92, of Monticello, Ky., formerly of Alameda, Calif., passed away November 22, 2009. He was born April 22, 1917 in Monticello, the son of the late Silas and Mary Helen (Marsh) Caylor.
He is survived by one daughter-Pattie J. Secada; granddaughter-Debra Hazel Secada of Monticello; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jessie (Guthrie) Caylor in May 1995; his son-in-law-Edward Secada; sisters-Laura (Caylor) Kelley and Nell (Caylor) McIntyre; and brothers-Willie Caylor (infancy), Claude Caylor, Clyde Caylor and James (Jim) Caylor.

Col. Caylor served his country from a very young age starting with the Kentucky National Guard, actively serving during World War II and the Korean War, and ending his career by spending his last five years as an instructor/advisor to the California National Guard. He earned several awards and decorations such as the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, multiple Purple Hearts, six campaign ribbons, as well as many clusters. He followed his military career as the owner/developer of the Diamond Springs Development Co. in Alameda, Calif. and later was employed by the Crystal Falls Recreational Property in Twain Heart, Calif. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello; was commisioned a Kentucky Colonel and in 1999 was inducted into the Monticello Athletic Hall of Fame. Col. Caylor loved to play his guitar and sing. He was a avid golfer, bridge player and was always interested in sports, especially basketball and softball; serving as a coach in his younger years or as a spectator later in life.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 with Bro. Bob Duranceau, Bro. Chad Fugitt and Bro. Harlan Ogle officiating. Burial followed in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Masonic Rites were given by Monticello Lodge #431 F and AM and Military Honors were performed by Monticello Chapter #105 DAV. Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
